Any tournament wins, or awards you are
particularly proud of?
Inducted into the Action Martial
Arts Hall of Fame in January 2003 for Excellence in the
Preservation of Martial Arts. Inducted in January of 2006 with
an Ambassodorship in Martial Arts. Served and honorably
discharged from the United States Navy.
Why did you begin in Martial Arts?
It all started for me in the early
1970s as a kid. Kung Fu was really big in New York City,
especially in the movies. I wanted to be able to conduct
myself and move the way I witnessed. New York was a very raw,
rough place to grow up in at that time and you needed to know
how to protect yourself. That began the seed to Martial Arts!
I continue studying Martial Arts mainly to keep maintenance in
being a better human being - mind, body, & spirit! It's a
never ending learning process with constant stimulation, which
is necesary for life.
Why did you choose CHKA?
I strayed away from the Martial
Arts due to life's many surprises and found myself missing a
need to stimulate. In search of a great system, I stepped into
many dojos. With the Universe's help I walked into CHKA, not
knowing it to be an excellent system. I joined for three
months to try it out, and I've been with CHKA and Sifu Jack
Shamburger for close to 15 years. I'm an excellent Martial
Artists and have no regrets!
Anything you'd like to say about the
Martial Arts?
In my opinion, one should
challenge oneself in any, and many, ways you can - to conquer
fears, gain confidence, and to be able to conduct amazing
things for your entire life - whether its in the Martial Arts
or just anything you like or love to do!
Outside of CHKA, what else is happening
in your life?
I'm an instructor for the Athletic
Department at New York University, and a Product Consultant
for automotive companies. I'm the proud father of two boys -
Kyle and Brandon. I love DJing, dancing, geography, and, of
course, practicing Chinese Hawaiian Kenpo!
